Queenscliff is situated just inside the entrance to Port Phillip Bay on the Bellarine Peninsula. Consequently, the waters of Queenscliff are calm and offers safe swimming for the whole family. If you’re a fisherman this is the place to be. Queenscliff pier has some of the best fishing in the whole peninsula and is known as the location for whiting. Queenscliff was first settled in the 1850s and it wasn’t long before a fort was built to protect the entrance and to stop access to Port Phillip Bay. If you get the cance don’t miss out on a trip to Fort Queenscliff where tours are available. Queenscliff has some sensational architecture dominated by the ornate Vue Grand Hotel which was constructed in 1881. Grand hotels and guest houses can also be found elsewhere in the city. Queenscliff is the perfect destination for that long awaited holiday – great for families and singles. There is just so much to do. Lots of coastal access, great beaches, wetlands, shops, cafes, restaurants and of course fishing.
